Regulated Sales Manager, Compliance and Directorship Jobs

Within the financial services sector financial advisers and IFAs need to be managed by a regulated sales manager. This is because, the firm has a regulatory responsiblity to provide fit and proper advice to clients and this is answerable to the FSA. In addition, Financial Advisors and IFAs have activity and financial targets to hit in order to deliver the companies objectives and earn bonuses and commissions.

Some organisations have two separate and distinct functions to achieve their regulatory and commercial objectives. Often one department is for compliance and regulatory requirements and one for sales performance including adviser activity, cross sales ratios and other key performance indicators. This split between compliance and sales management enables a different type of manager to play to his strengths.

Many firms however, hold a different view believing that compliance and sales management are not mutually exclusive and that there are benefits in having one point of contact and one manager to develop, manage and lead the financial advisor team.

The requirements for a sales management career in the financial services sector vary between firms but there are set minimum requirements needed to even be considered.

For an IFA or financial services sales management role candidates must be fully qualified advise as a financial adviser (these vary all the time). Additionally, candidates will need an exceptional track record as an adviser or have previous financial advisor sales management experience.

For both compliance and sales management jobs it is unlikely that any other candidates apart form those with experience and competent supervisor status would be considered unless they have an exceptional track record as either an IFA, wealth manager or financial adviser.
